Covid-19: No update on Friday due to Matariki public holiday



The Ministry of Health will not be releasing an update on the daily Covid-19 case numbers and hospitalisations on Friday, because of the Matariki public holiday.

The ministry will include Friday’s confirmed case numbers, deaths and hospitalisations in its next update on Saturday.

The latest we know is 5285 people tested positive for the virus on Thursday, with 300 people in hospital with the virus and five in ICU.

Twelve more people were confirmed to have died from Covid, all of whom had died after June 17. It brings the seven-day rolling average of Covid-related deaths to 12.

Two people were in their 50s, seven were in their 80s and three were aged over 90. Of these people, seven were male and five were female.
